A 40-YEAR-OLD-man from Siyamunza village under Chief Sinamusanga in Binga was last Wednesday trampled to death by an elephant while riding a bicycle along the Sinamusanga-Sengwe fishing camp road.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed the incident.

“On June 9, Philemon Siampijo and his friend Abraham (55) were riding a bicycle when they came across a herd of elephants,” Banda said.

“They got off the bicycle and started running away and the elephant charged and went after Siampijo. The jumbo caught him and trampled him until he died.”

Abraham informed Siampijo’s relatives and other villagers about the attack before making a report to the police.
