AWARD-winning rapper Asaph, who featured on Muse’s latest single Pressure, says he enjoyed being part of the track which he described as “real hip-hop”.

The duo released the track a fortnight ago, accompanied by visuals directed and shot by award-winning Andy Cuta.

Pressure, which was produced by Muse at his own stable, The Balcony Studio, in Bulawayo, has been doing well on the airwaves across the country.

“It was a great experience being on such a track as well as shooting the video with Andy Cuta. It’s that real raw hip-hop energy that’s 100% true to the culture,” Asaph told Standard Style.

“Muse is a very professional and hardworking artiste whom I really respect. He focuses on what he wants to accomplish and he goes for it.

“He hit me up with the idea and concept of the song. He wanted to express an energy that can’t be tamed or stopped no matter how much opposition it faces, Pressure never breaks us.”

Quizzed as to what was on his mind and his feelings when he went into the studio, Asaph responded: “All that was on my mind was to body [kill] the beat.”

Asaph added that he would release more work with Muse.

“Definitely Muse and myself have been working much closer this year on several projects. So fans should be on the lookout for more work coming from us,” Asaph said.

The track Pressure was released in the midst of a social media campaign #HipHopCapital, which is being pushed by Bulawayo-based rappers. Asaph said the hashtag is for Bulawayo artistes to celebrate themselves.

“#HipHopCapital is just for Bulawayo to celebrate itself. Every hip-hop artiste in the city will find a community ready to rally behind them,” Asaph said.
