Herentals gaffer Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva believes their Chibuku Super Cup appearance will open up new avenues for his players.

The Students are making their first ever appearance in a cup final since gaining promotion into the topflight in 2018.

Undoubtedly this has been their best season in all respects, especially given that they knocked out the Premier Soccer League champions, FC Platinum en route to the finals.

Mutiwekuziva said whatever the outcome, he was excited by the prospects of his players after the finals.

“I’m excited. I'm happy for the team. It's a massive achievement just to be in the final,” Mutiwekuziva told Newsday Sports.

“We just want to end everything on a high note.  But what excites me the most, is the fact that this is an opportunity to win a medal for ourselves. We have to put everything in it.

“Win or lose, this is a great opportunity for us. We came a long way and I think we deserved this considering the work we put in.”

Mutiwekuziva will be hoping for revenge in the final, with his team having lost to Bulawayo Chiefs in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match on October 30.

Under normal circumstances, the winner between the two finalists would book a ticket to the Caf Confederations Cup.

However, with Zimbabwe still under the Fifa suspension, the winners will get no more than the prize as well as a berth in the season curtain raiser Castle Challenge.
