Former Warriors star Talent Chawapiwa

FORMER Warriors star Talent Chawapiwa  has resurfaced at newly-promoted Premier Soccer Lague side Simba Bhora with the hope of reviving his fading football career.

The speedy winger has been spotted training with the club in recent days with the hope of impressing new coach Tonderai Ndiraya.

He is one of the many new faces trying their luck with the ambitious Shamva-based club.

Other prominent figures who have been training with the club in the last few days include two former Dynamos players Patson Jaure and Keith Murera, who are looking to rejoin Ndiraya.

The duo was axed by the Harare giants in a purge that claimed the scalps of over 13 players.

Vassili Kawe, who starred for ZPC Kariba last season, has also been training with the club.

A source said Chawapiwa has been working hard to impress Ndiraya, and chances are that he will get a contract.

“Talent looks a bit rusty and needs to work on his general fitness,” a source told NewsDay Sport yesterday.

“He has been working very hard at training and looks like he is doing well to charm coach Ndiraya. He is likely to get a contract.”

No official comment could be obtained from the club, Ndiraya could not be reached and he was not answering his mobile phone.

While Jaure and Murera are almost certain to land contracts, it is Chawapiwa, who will be desperate to impress as he looks to revive his career following his anti-climax stint in South Africa.

The former Harare City star was released by Platinum City Rovers at the end of last season after the South African National First Division side decided against renewing the short-term contract he had signed.

This is after he had been released by league side Sekhukhune United in January, following yet another underwhelming stint with the modest club.

It was a low for the 30-year-old speedster who dazzled at Baroka United from 2017-2019 after joining the South African league from local side FC Platinum.

His stellar performances for Baroka saw him earning a place in the final Warriors squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals under coach Sunday Chidzambga.

The former Harare City and ZPC Kariba man then moved to Amazulu where he again went on to lit up the stage and at one time considered one of the best players in the SuperDiski.

After spending two seasons with the Durban club, he was offloaded in 2021 under unclear circumstances, and his football career took a downturn since then.
