BARE STATEMENT: A German man apparently angry over high petrol prices staged an unusual protest –– by buying his petrol completely naked (except for a pair of shoes.)
The unnamed man drove his Renault Scenic into the Shell petrol station in Bad Klosterlausnitz, Germany, while wearing only a pair of black shoes.
Station manager Frank Hollmotz said: “I guess he didn’t want to get his feet dirty. He climbed out of the car in full view of the CCTV cameras and filled up –– then walked into the shop to pay. He then went back to the forecourt and climbed into his car and left.”
Staff said they would not file a complaint with police, as the naked protest hadn’t made staff feel threatened –– and they added that they were not exactly sure if it was even a crime, as the petrol station is private property.
There were several angry protests in Germany over Easter after petrol companies were accused of driving up prices ahead of the Easter holiday. It’s not clear exactly how buying your petrol naked makes this point. –– Metro.co.uk

CENTENARIAN PUPIL: A 102-year-old grandmother has become the world’s oldest primary pupil after going back to school in China.
Ma Xiuxian, from Jinan, Shandong province, started work in a cotton mill at the age of 13, reports the Qilu Evening Post.
But she always longed for the chance of a proper education and has now gone back to school to fulfill her ambition.“I feel very happy that I can finally realise my dream of going to school at this age,” said Ma.
She was supported by her youngest son, Yi Fengxin (58), as she walked into her grade one class at Weishan Road Elementary School for the first time. After her first lesson, she was asked to say a few words and said: “Thank you teacher! Thank you my classmates! I’ll study hard and do my contribution to the country.”
She uses hearing aids to make sure she can hear the teacher and uses a magnifying class to help her read her text books.
Ma was married at 18 when she became a housewife, raising nine children, seven of whom went on to become university graduates.
The school offered her a place after reading about her long held ambition when she was interviewed by a local newspaper.
Yi explained: “My mother even sold her jewellery to help put us through school and her biggest dream was to go to school one day herself.” –– Ananova.
APRIL FOOLS: A town mayor in Jordan is considering suing a local newspaper over an April Fools’ Day report saying aliens had landed.
Al-Ghad’s front-page story said flying saucers flown by three metre tall creatures had landed in the desert town of Jafr.
It said communication networks went down and frightened townspeople fled into the streets,.Mayor Mohammed Mleihan said parents were so frightened they did not send their children to school.“Students didn’t go to school, their parents were frightened and I almost evacuated the town’s 13 000 residents,” Mleihan said.
“People were scared that aliens would attack them.”He immediately notified the security authorities, who he said combed the area looking for the aliens. They did not find any.
Al-Ghad’s front page piece said the giant aliens had arrived on flying saucers lighting up the town.
Moussa Barhoumeh, Al Ghad’s managing editor, said the newspaper was simply having some good natured fun on April Fools’ Day, and had apologised for any inconvenience caused.“We meant to entertain, not scare people,” he said. –– BBC.
