BY MELISSA MPOFUMISS Zimbabwe and her princesses will be able to maintain their beauty throughout their reign free of charge courtesy of a local beauty parlour that has pledged to take care of all their cosmetic needs.

SPA WHR U R, a local beauty therapy shop that served all Miss Zimbabwe finalists prior to the national final, has announced that the three models will have their facial and hair needs attended to up to the end of their reign.

Ruvimbo Tuwe, the SPA WHR U R director said the value of the beauty packages would be as follows:  Miss Zimbabwe (Malaika Mushandu) $5 000, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe (Rumbidzayi Mudzengerere) $3 000 and Miss Universe (Lisa Morgan) $1 000.

The therapy services will include eye-lash extensions, weaves, facial consultations, make up tests, massages, manicures and pedicures amongst others.

Although the models are still to receive their big winning prizes due to busy schedules, they are already benefiting from the beauty therapy scheme.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) corporate communications and public relations manager, Sugar Chagonda confirmed the developments saying the models would no longer have headaches on how to keep their good looks.

Tuwe said they had taken the decision to assist the models in a bid to try and help them attain the international standards of models.

“These national queens are ambassadors of the country therefore they should always look their best at all times.

“It is very expensive to maintain the good looks hence our beauty package will enable them to maintain the good looks, this will also cut down on their expenses,” Tuwe said.

She said besides the prizes, her organisation had partnered with the ZTA as one of the sponsors of the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.

“This was our first time to partner with ZTA for Miss Zimbabwe and we did most of the girls make up and beauty therapy ahead of the final.

“I am proud that the three girls who won had their make-up applied by us,” Tuwe said.

She added that besides beauty therapy, her organisation also offers model grooming courses, which will soon be taken to various high schools across the country.

“We will soon be grooming and training the girl child on hygiene and sanitation issues.

“We will also teach them how to carry themselves in public since most of them might leave for work after high school,” she added.

Meanwhile Mushandu and Mudzengerere left for Malawi on Monday afternoon to attend the Miss Malawi Ball where they were invited by Miss Malawi, Cutepie Chibale.

Mushandu said while in Malawi, they were going to go on tour of the country visiting orphanages and Lake Malawi among other activities.

“We are going to have presentations based on the accomplishments of models from Zimbabwe.

“I am also going to take this platform to tell the true Zimbabwean story as I am there to serve the nation,” she said.

The two beauties who were accompanied by a ZTA chaperone are expected to return home on Monday.
