ZIMBABWE’S annual inflation went down to 2,7% last month from 3% in February, the Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency said on Friday.

The decline has been attributed to lower prices for telecommunications and medicine. But monthly inflation quickened to 0,8% from 0,5% from the previous month.Finance minister Tendai Biti said he expected inflation to reach 4,5%  by end of  this year, a figure still far below the record levels breached before the formation of the unity government.

The inflation spiral ended after the newly formed unity government abandoned the worthless Zimbabwe dollar and adopted multiple currencies.
