Harare Sports Club trounce Air Force

HARARE Sports club beat Air Force 19-0 in a women’s rugby league played at Old Georgians yesterday.

Old Hararians also played against the Zimbabwe Republic Police women and won 24-5. The Zimbabwe Women Rugby also hosted a schools tournament at the same venue.

A total of 12 schools comprising Budiriro’s Quality Academy, George Stark, Manyame, School, Hatfield, Roosevelt, Tafara High 2, Queen Elizabeth, Lord Marlvern and Girls High participated.

Mabvuku Titans, a team comprised of girls from Mabvuku also participated. George Stark beat Roosevelt in the final.

Aisha Tsimba, the Zimbabwe Women’s Rugby president extended thanks to the main sponsor of the tournament namely Thoko Sibanda from Timber Connectors (Mitek), for her support.

 

“We would not have been able to hold the tournament without the support from our main sponsor who has  passion for school girls’ development,” Tsimba said

“Checks Vurayayi from Zimbabwe Rugby Union facilitated and administered at the tournament. “We also extend our gratitude for the work he did, that is making sure that the tournament was a success. Special thanks also goes to the school girls and respective schools (and coaches) who continue to show great passion and enthusiasm for the game of rugby.”
