Not long after the untimely death of owner Bob Savania, still sorely missed as a pillar of strength in the restaurant trade and well-loved host in this family-owned and run restaurant, the Dehli Palace very understandably closed its doors for a while.
The Dehli Palace has both won awards and reached the Finalists Lists in the Zimbabwe on a Plate Awards and in its precursor, the Restaurants of the Year Competition and regularly won itself a Five Plate Rating over the years. It was sadly missed amongst the finalists and award winners line-up at the recently held Restaurants of the Year Awards held in July, where members of the restaurant trade toasted Bob in a special tribute to one of their great and much missed personalities.
Bob’s equally well-respected wife Nickie attended the awards, and appreciated the tribute, which inevitably led to some fondly shed tears for this long-time food hero, through the attending crowd.
Nickie Savania is very proud to be re-opening the restaurant with the support of her daughter Dushalla as Front of House manager, ably assisted by a dynamic young couple who are keen to learn the business as a part of the family. Nickie will continue as Chef, her 17 years of experience leaving her confident that the food will, as we all remember, be truly authentic and excellent!

Diners will be pleased to learn that not very much is set to change. Nickie believes that there is no need to alter a winning formula. Doing what she does well and consistently is a superb recipe for success and she plans to stick with it! The décor has been updated a little to add a touch of luxury and “richness” to the restaurant. The original staff complement is back in action, ready and waiting to serve the devoted public that has so missed this fine restaurant, and the menu will be as it was before, exactly as we like it!
The Dehli Palace is located at the Greystone Park Shopping Centre on Gaydon Road and will be open for Dinner from Monday to Saturday and Nickie and the family are looking forward to welcoming old and new friends and hope to see you for dinner soon.
