SHABANIE Mine survived relegation on the last day as Monomotapa condemned Masvingo United to Division One. Shabanie Mine chalked victory against Bosso at Maglas to tie on points (34) with Masvingo United who went down to Monoz but the Chinda Boys survived the dreaded chop on a two-goal difference.

The Chinda Boys scored through veteran Rowan Nenzou from a spectacular free kick in the 52nd minute. Michael Mageja scored four minutes later to seal victory for Shabanie Mine.

“I am so happy and excited that my team survived relegation. I would like to call myself a movie’s main actor who never dies. We played as a team, defended and attacked as a team.

Teamwork carried us through,” said Shabanie Mine coach Luke Masomere. Masvingo United needed victory or a draw against Monoz to survive but it was not to be at Rufaro yesterday.

Russell Madamombe scored for Monoz in the 34th minute before Joseph Mutambiranwa added another goal in the 73rd minute.  Monoz could have harvested many goals yesterday but Francis Tizayi in goals for Masvingo had a good day in the office denying the visitors.

Masvingo will join Kiglon, Zimbabwe Saints and Shooting Stars, who were relegated last week. In other matches, Motor Action beat Black Mambas 2-0 at Motor Action Sports Club. The Mighty Bulls scored through Gift Phiri and Kuda Musharu.

Gunners had a good end to their season when they beat Hwange 2-1 at Lafarge. Zimbabwe Saints and CAPS United settled for a goalless draw at White City in Bulawayo.
