BY LESLEY WURAYAYITHE Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) says local organisations should participate in the SuperBrand Awards to invest in their own brands for success on the global scale.

The SuperBrand awards is an annual event that recognises and promotes marketing excellence and professionalism for top brands.Speaking at a workshop last week, MAZ president, Godfrey Dube, said the launch of SuperBrand 2012 seeks to encourage companies to develop their own brands that can compete at international markets.

“This year’s SuperBrand awards will have a special section for local brands only, as a way of encouraging the development of local brands. It is the development of strong brands that leads to strong companies and a strong economy,” Dube said.

Motivational speaker, Douglas Mamvura, said parastatals should reposition their products as a way of building a super-brand that would in turn improve the organisation’s market share.

“Parastatals ought to reposition their products so as to re-invent themselves in the market. Organisations should know their product and their competitors in creating a super brand,” he said.

The annual event seeks to recognise and promote marketing excellence and professionalism for top brands through awards. The award winners will benefit in that suppliers and customers would be reassured that they are working with a popular brand.

Dube said recruitment of organisations starts this month and ends on July 31.
