DeMbare aim Chicken Inn

BY Albert MarufuEARLY pacesetters Highlanders and Dynamos will be looking at continuing with their onslaught in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League when they respectively host Hwange and Chicken Inn this afternoon.

Highlanders currently lead the standings with 16 points from 6 games while second-placed Dynamos are three points behind from the same number of outings.

Today the two will be looking at cementing their positions, but they face tricky opponents. The Adam Ndlovu-coached Chicken Inn would not want to continue their losing streak that has seen them losing two games on the trot.

Though wary of the threat posed by Dynamos especially playing in their Rufaro fortress, Ndlovu remained hopeful of a positive afternoon. “Dynamos are not a team to beat easily especially playing at Rufaro.  This time they will be more dangerous as they want to atone for their Champions League exit,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu however said his players know what is at stake and cannot afford to lose a third match in a row after a bright start to the season.

“Obviously, it is very difficult to psych up players who have lost two matches in a row, but they know what is at stake,” he said.Chicken Inn will have to do without the injured trio of steely defender Hebert Dick, Canaan Nkomo, Brighton Dube and Kuda Mahachi who is on suspension.

The absence of the experienced defender Dick is likely to expose the Chicken Inn rear guard as they have to content with the now fit Dynamos striker Takesure Chinyama.

Chinyama had been struggling with a knee injury that kept him out of the team’s last two matches, but has now been certified fit.At Barbourfields, it will be a battle of wits between Zambian coaches Highlanders’ Kevin Kaindu and Hwange’s Tennant Chilumba.Highlanders are still unbeaten in the league, but Chilumba is confident his charges will stop the Bossolona juggernaut.

“Last season we managed to collect three points from them and I believe that it is also possible this season. I respect them very much and they are still to lose this season, but they can be beaten,” he said. Kaindu said they were hoping for a good match.
