Highlanders seek redemption over City — skipper

Sport
BY MICHAEL MADYIRAHighlanders captain Innocent Mapuranga said this afternoon’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash with Harare City at Barbourfields should mark their redemption after their last two matches ended in goalless draws.

The log leaders drew nil-all with Chicken Inn on June 10 before posting a similar result against Motor Action last weekend as they scraped just two points out of a possible six.

The Bulawayo giants welcome back talismanic midfielder Milton Ncube who missed the Mighty Bulls encounter with a knee injury.

Bosso face lowly-placed City, who interestingly have won their last two matches, including a 1-0 giant-slaying act over Dynamos and would be eager to continue vacating the relegation zone.

“We are geared up for Harare City and we are not underrating them. We did not expect the draws we recorded lately but in football you do not win every time. Now it is high time that we collect maximum points and stay safe at the top,” said Mapuranga.

Elsewhere, third-placed Shabanie Mine would be keen to close in the three-point gap on Bosso when they host Chicken Inn at Maglas.

Shabanie have only lost once at Maglas this season but Chicken Inn would be buoyed by the fact that they emerged as 2-0 victors from the same venue last season.

The asbestos miners coach, Luke Masomere, is bracing up for a tough time.

“We are playing against an organised side that beat us twice last season, so the game is going to be very tough to be honest,” Masomere said.Inconsistent Hwange have a date with equally unsteady Motor Action at the Colliery, while Hardbody play basement side WWS Rangers at Ascot.
