Mr Ugly contest will in the near future go regional with a contest that will see hopefuls from the Sadc region contesting for the top prize. Organisers of the contest that recently elevated William Masvinu to celebrity status, last week said plans were in progress to go regional.
“We have plans to make the contest bigger and we are already making consultations with the relevant people,” said Lawrence Chinoperekwei of City Sports bar.
“It is unfortunate that the man behind the idea, David Machowa of the Apama fame, was involved in an accident two weeks ago but I can safely say it is in the pipeline.”
Meanwhile, City Sports Bar will tomorrow embark on a charity campaign aimed at raising funds for Apama Dance Group.
“It is a two legged programme that will see various dance groups performing for the cause in first part, then musicians in the few weeks to follow,” he said. Chinoperekwei said all the proceeds for the shows would go to Apama for his welfare during the time that he will be off the stage and also to the bereaved families.
