NGOs clash to raise funds for disadvantaged children

By Our Staff TWENTY non-governmental organisations will this Saturday converge at Gateway High School for the annual Inter-NGO Games to raise funds for disadvantaged children. Now in their fifth year, the Inter-NGO Games will see NGO staff and their families competing in soccer, netball, volleyball, tennis, athletics and basketball.

Rudo Taonezvi, one of the organisers of the event, said their aim was to build team work among workers from various organisations and support for a charity of choice.

“This year, the inter-NGO games will raise funds for over 1 300 out of school children in 13 sites to give them life skills, continued education and linkages to vocational training centres that all allow them to grow into healthy adults,” she said.

“Corporate sponsors including CBZ, Bronte Hotel and Alpha Media, who have supported the event for the past two years, will also attend.”

She added that the event’s ambassador, Leonard Zhakata will debut a new remix of his song, focusing on raising awareness about challenges that are being faced by children who cannot afford going to school.
