The much-awaited comedy, Gringo the Troublemaker, which should have marked the return of comedian Lazarus “Gringo” Boora, has been put on hold due to financial constraints.

Report by Tawanda Marwizi The comedy was supposed to be released by the end of last month but the producer, Enock Chihombori, said fans have to wait a little longer to see Gringo back in action.

“We are still working on the comedy and we have gone through a number of production stages but it will take us more time to complete the production.

This time I have no corporate sponsorship like what used to be the case with previous productions. Progress will be slow because funds are limited,” said Chihombori.

Chihombori said Gringo the Troublemaker was about a young man, John, who tries hard to impress his girlfriend to the extent of going to a traditional healer for assistance so that he gets rich quickly.

Unfortunately, John meets Gringo who tempers with the traditional herbs and everything goes horribly wrong.

The comedy will feature musician Amanda Sagonda in her first acting role. Ben Mahaka, who acted as Tom Mambo in Studio 263, will also feature in the comedy.

Gringo said he was ready to reunite with his fans after a long time but was worried about  the delay of the production.

“I am happy to be back and this time around people will have to be strong because they might literary laugh their lungs out. Unfortunately, the comedy is taking time to complete,” said Gringo.
