The team left for Tanzania yesterday where they will battle it out for the solitary ticket to represent Africa in the last qualifying round to be held in Ireland with South Africa, Uganda, Namibia, Kenya and hosts Tanzania from December 16-19.

In an interview with Standardsport, Zowe said he was optimistic and confident the ladies would defy odds and snatch the sole ticket to represent Africa at the T20 World Cup in 2014.

“The girls are positive and they are quite upbeat of what is expected of them at the tournament. With that kind of spirit, I am confident the ladies will come up tops in the group and qualify for the last qualifying round in Ireland en-route to the World Cup in 2014,” said Zowe.

The team however faces an uphill task against favourites South Africa. The team would be missing the services of influential skipper Sharne Mayers , Julia Chibhabha and Sinikiwe Mpofu.

Travelling Squad Ashley Ndiraya (captain), Precious Marange (vice captain), Ashley Burdett (wicket keeper), Sharice Saili, Sarah Dambanevana, Mary-Musonda, Christabel Chatonzwa, Tasmeen Granger, Josephine Nkomo, Normatter Mutasa, Thandolwenkosi Mlilo, Loreen Tshuma, Nonhlanhla Nyathi and Pellagia Mujaji.
