Here are some low-cost things you can do:

Water In addition to the stipulated eight glasses or two litres of water a day, start your day off with a glass of hot water, add a splash of lemon juice to it. This is said to kick-start your digestive system. The benefits also show on your face while the toxins built up in your liver and kidneys show on your skin too.

Exercise You do not have to subscribe to a gym in order for you to get your dose of exercise. Take a walk in your neighbourhood. Sweating is a good way of expelling some toxins that are contained in your body. Some of these toxins use the skin as an outlet if they are not excreted through the correct channels.

Steaming You can use a towel dipped in hot water to steam, or you can put your head over a small bucket or dish with hot water in it, then cover your head with a big towel. The steam opens up your pores and gives your face a healthy glow.

Face cloth Trade in your face cloth for your hands. Face cloths are abrasive while the hands are gentle.

Manage your diet A diet rich in the wrong fats starts to show on your face, so choose your foods wisely. The heart doesn’t like wrong fats anyway.

Wash your face Wash it twice a day. At the end of the day, the skin has accumulated a lot of dirt so go to bed with a clean face. Never go to bed with your make-up on.

And then they are things that require you to spend a little more money:

Skin analysis Find out what your skin type is, so you know its needs and treat it accordingly. Unless you have really good skin you may be like many other women out there who have a myriad of skin care creams that have not worked thus far. A beauty therapist at a beauty spa should be able to assist you with this.

Shop for the right products Don’t buy the first product you come across or the one that works for your friend. You will need a face wash that actually cleans your skin. Then purchase a toner to balance out the pH of your skin and the moisturiser, to moisten the skin.

Additional treats for the skin

There are different masks for the various skin types, for instance, hydrating masks. Scrubbing the skin is good because it removes the dead skin cells allowing the healthier cells to come through. A mask does not have to be a granulated one, sensitive skin works better with a chemical exfoliater so it does not irritate the skin. Night creams, serums and eye creams are also treats that maintain your skin and its youth for as long as possible.

Sunscreen: Wear your sunscreen. The sun is not kind to our skin so we should protect our skin.

Facials: If you feel like splurging on your skin, a facial is a good choice. Do facials once a month or whenever you can. The above are suggestions that you can incorporate in your daily routine to take care of your face. You can try them all or some, but do something.

Daily hair care tips for the rainy season

Hair care is crucial during the rainy season or else it can become difficult to maintain the beauty of hair.

Clean the rain water from hair Rainy season is utterly unpredictable. The light sprinkles can turn into heavy showers anytime. Whenever the rain droplets or heavy showers make the hair wet, wash the hair thoroughly yet gently. After washing hair with shampoo use a conditioner as well. Rain water carries lot of unseen bacteria and other pollutants which can spoil the hair if not cleaned. It can also cause excessive dandruff.

Apply oil to hair moderately Oiling hair in the rainy season should be done less. Too much oiling would give more sticky feeling. Hair experts recommend oiling the hair three to four hours prior to taking hair wash, unlike keeping hair oiled overnight as in other seasons round the year.

Say no to chemical treatments Chemical treatments in the cloudy weather are an absolute no. Hair is hydroscopic in nature. This means it absorbs moisture from the environment and invalidates the effect of chemical products on the hair. In fact the hair becomes more tangled and messy.

Keep the hair tied in loose hairstyle Enlarged hair dos that require hair to be tied tightly in a bun must not be worn. Hair becomes quite fragile and when tying it tightly, it breaks down severely. Always use a wide toothed comb in this weather.

Never comb or tie wet hair When hair is wet, first allow it to dry then comb the hair and put it in a loose bun. Combing wet hair can make the hair break easily. And, tying hair when it is damp can lead to fungal infection in the scalp or it becomes prone to lice infestation.

Do not blow dry wet hair Hair dryers must not be used to dry the oily hair. Instead, use a good cotton towel and gently rub it on the scalp and hair. Blow drying the hair in the rainy season can lead to more split ends and hair breakage.

Wash hair twice or thrice in a week It is best to keep the scalp dirt free to avoid all the hair problems in the rainy season. In a week, one must wash hair two to three times. During this season, the water gets contaminated quickly hence more chlorine is added to water. Chlorine makes the hair very dry. — gloryhaircare.blogspot.com
