A Zifa Grounds Committee inspected Dulibadzimu on January 12 and made some recommendations to the Beitbridge Town Council (BTC) so that the stadium meets the required top-flight football standards.

The Grounds Committee, led by PSL Chairman Twine Phiri recommended that changing rooms and the grandstands should be given a facelift.

“We told them to spruce up the changing rooms and the grandstands. We have given them eight weeks to do that and if they fail to meet the standards then Tripple will have to look for another venue to host their matches,” Phiri said.

BTC has put aside US$500 000 for the renovations of the stadium, a gesture that has given Tripple B president Edward Kanyangu reason to believe they would host their matches at the stadium.

“We are very optimistic that we will play our games at Dulibadzimu, we don’t have any intention of shifting our base to any other stadium. Our fans in Beitbridge must have the privilege to watch us play here,” Kanyangu said.

However, no work has started at the stadium and pointers are that BTC might fail to meet the deadline set by PSL.

During the 2008 and 2009 seasons, the now defunct Underhill were forced to play most of their premiership games at Mucheke while Dulibadzimu was being renovated.

Tripple B have already played their two pre-season friendlies against Dynamos and Triangle at Mucheke. Last season Dulibadzimu stadium drew condemnation from Monomotapa and Hardbody who played at the venue in a Mbada Diamonds Cup match, citing substandard changing rooms and grandstand.

With Masvingo being 288km away from the border town, Tripple B last year were mooting adopting Naeisfield Stadium in Messina, South Africa as their home ground.
