Reymond Marumise (30) of Kaivu Village in Siachilaba pleaded guilty to impersonating a police officer when he appeared before Binga resident magistrate, Stephen Ndlovu last week.

He was convicted but cautioned and discharged.

The court heard that on February 27 this year, Marumise went to Thwalijaha bottle store in Siachilaba with the intention of retrieving a twist of mbanje (marijuana) that had fallen into a radio speaker.

On arrival, he claimed to be a police officer who wanted to investigate something at the shop. He opened the radio speaker saying it was part of the probe.

The bottle store attendant, Benny Munkuli allowed him to conduct the “investigations”.

It is the state case that after opening the speaker, he retrieved a twist of the dagga and immediately went away.

Munkuli became suspicious and made a report to the police and Marumise was later arrested.

David Never Shiku prosecuted.
