MUTARE — The love for sausages has landed a Dangamvura man in trouble after he was hauled before the courts on theft charges.
Report by Clayton Masekesa
Jairos Munemo (28) appeared before Mutare magistrate Sekai Chiwundura last week facing charges of stealing a packet of sausages weighing 500 grammes from TM Dangamvura supermarket.
Munemo pleaded guilty and was fined US$50.
When asked why he had committed the offence, Munemo left the court in stitches when he said he liked sausages a lot.
“I regret to have committed the offence. I like sausages so much and I intended to eat them with my family.”
The magistrate retorted: “If you do not have money, you should eat vegetables.”
Prosecutor Sam Chabuka said on April 6, around mid-day, Munemo entered TM Dangamvura supermarket where he stole the packet of sausages.
