The Cheetahs beat Hong Kong 12-7 in the opening match, before falling to Scotland 21-14 in their second game.

They then bounced back to the winning ways after a victory over Georgia in their last pool match to secure a second spot finish.

Scotland, who finished with the same number of points with Zimbabwe, meets Tonga in the other quarter final qualifier while Portugal faces Georgia.

Core status will see Zimbabwe competing in all the Sevens World Series tournaments next year.
