The competition is an all-style music competition for young artists, and is open to young people aged between 12 and 20.
The winner will represent Zimbabwe at the International Imagine Festival which will take place in August in Kristiansand, Norway. “Registration is open until June 17 [tomorrow] and this event will signify the rebranding of the competition. Workshops will give an international flavour to the event,” said Music Crossroads regional director, Mathias Bangure.
Imagine has previously been linked with the Music Crossroads Inter-regional festival and its previous winners have toured Europe, playing at Imagine events in Norway, Sweden, Belgium and Croatia.
This time around, for the first time ever, a Zimbabwean group will have the chance to compete in the Imagine International Final. “This competition is open to all styles and anyone from the required age groups can present their products,” said Bangure.
Over the past 20 years, this programme of the Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) has grown into a unique development and exchange platform for young musicians in nine countries worldwide and continues to expand.
“We are so excited about this opportunity for young local upcoming artistes to spring from national to international levels.”
