Today the cousins share the stage at Harare Gardens at a show that will also feature Douglas and Allan Chimbetu, as well as Alick Macheso, Peter Moyo, Jah Prayzah and Mathias Mhere.

Reports had suggested that Tryson demanded payment from Sulumani for him to perform at the mega event leading to a fallout between the two.

However, Tryson unexpectedly attended a tribute concert for the late Simon Chimbetu held at Belgravia Sports Club on Wednesday and later announced he would be at today’s show.

“We are going to perform at Simon Chimbetu’s commemoration without considering payment because we are one family,” said Tryson.

He said the commemorations were a family issue and he would participate at the events that are lined up.

“It was just unfortunate that a promoter approached me for participation at the shows and I told him that this was a family thing. I said I would talk to Sulu and uncle Allan first, but the promoter did not understand my reponse.”

Sulumani’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma said Tryson was part of the Chimbetu family and was free to participate at the event.

“You saw him at the concert in Belgravia because he is part of the family and he can participate in the commemorations,” said Nyamungoma.

It has been a long time since the Harare Gardens hosted such a mega-sungura gig and music fans should be in for a treat since the gig presents the cream of the genre on one stage.

Patson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions, who is organising the gig, told Standardlife&style that the show would be Harare’s mega event for the mass music market to celebrate Simon’s works and achievements.

“It is yet another milestone towards the commemoration of the great musician that Tryson has agreed to work with his brothers and family to honour the great icon. We want to honour a great music icon in a big way. All the leading sungura musicians of the moment have agreed to be on one stage to salute Simon Chimbetu,” Chimbodza said.
