Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) technical director Nelson Matongorere has been suspended from all football activities with immediate effect

Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) technical director Nelson Matongorere has been suspended from all football activities with immediate effect.

Matongorere is said to have been served with his suspension letter on Friday while he was conducting grassroots football coaching sessions.

The heavily built coaching instructor is alleged to have cast Ballon d’Or votes masquerading as both Warriors captain and coach to vote for the Fifa World Player of the Year last year.

He is also accused of insubordination against the Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze.

The letter is said to have spelt out that Matongorere must not be seen anywhere near Zifa offices until such a time that he would be called for a hearing.

A reliable source confirmed the suspension to this publication.

Neither Mashingaidze nor Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela was reachable for comment while Matongorere directed all questions to Zifa.
