Madinda eyes third successive be-Mobile title

Zimbabwe and Highlanders legend Madinda Ndlovu is eyeing his third successive title in the Botswana be-Mobile League with new club Township Rollers.

The be-Mobile league, whose curtain is set to come down in April, still has 13 matches remaining.

The former Warriors gaffer stands a chance of making a treble in Botswana after he won the last two titles with CAF Champions League contestants Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

Madinda’s side prettily perches on the second spot in the be-Mobile League coming from the Christmas and New Year break.

Township Rollers have amassed 37 points from 17 matches, a point behind pacesetters Botswana Defence Forces (BDF) XI with his former side Mochudi trailing him by two points on the third spot.

Rollers have only lost twice in the current campaign and drawn four times, collecting maximum points from 11 matches while BDF have lost three and drew two winning 12 times. Defending Champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs have also won 11 times, drawn twice and have lost four times.

Ndlovu’s side has scored 27 goals while BDF XI has netted 23 in the 17 outings and both sides have conceded seven goals apiece with Rollers leading by a four-goal difference.

Despite scoring the highest number of goals with 30, Mochudi have let in 14 goals.

Current statistics going into the New Year put Ndlovu’s Rollers on a good footing as they resume the league with a date against 11th placed Orapa United away from home on Saturday while BDF XI take on Gaborone United, sitting on position four and in contest for the honours as they have picked up 34 points, four behind the log leaders.

The army side will be banking on home advantage to maintain pole position.
