MDC T leader Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday implored his techno savvy supporters not to divulge party plans and ideas on social platforms, saying such behaviour gave Zanu PF ammunition to counter-strategise against them.

Tsvangirai was speaking in Harare where he was meeting party provincial structures.

“Desist from communicating information on intimate party deliberations on WhatsApp because you will be giving Zanu PF free intelligence,” said Tsvangirai in apparent reprisal of members of the party who were seen sending messages on proceedings of the meeting.

Tsvangirai encouraged party members to remain focused on removing Zanu PF from power, saying the country needed a new direction that would bring about a turnaround.

Party spokesperson Obert Gutu told journalists that the main purpose of the interactive meeting was to enable Tsvangirai to explain the way forward for the MDC-T in 2015.

“He also took the opportunity to take questions from the floor and to articulate the party’s strategies in order to bring real democratic change to Zimbabwe,” said Gutu.

“The structures were from the lowest level, that is the branch, to the highest provincial level. This clearly proves that President Morgan Tsvangirai is a humble and down-to-earth leader who finds it very easy to interact with anyone.”

Tsvangirai said the party would continue to push for electoral, media and security reforms to ensure that when elections are held they would be free and fair.

“Measures will also be put in place so that Zanu PF will not export its Chipangano terrorism from Mbare to Budiriro,” Gutu said.
