CHICKEN Inn’s Edmore Chirambadare was in top form, scoring the fastest goal of the season so far and providing an assist as the Bulawayo side got off to a good start against Flame Lilly in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Luveve yesterday.

Chirambadare scored 40 seconds into the match after he latched on to a defensive mix up by Flame Lilly.

He could have added another one for Chicken 10 minutes after the break, but his ferocious effort hit the cross bar and fell as far as Michelle Katsvairo who beat goalkeeper Earnmore Hamandishe in goals for Flame Lilly.

Flame Lilly pulled one back through substitute Motion Muponda in the 55th minute after he rose high to connect a corner kick sent in by Prosper Chinyama.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said it was a good start for his side.

“It’s a good start. It’s the start that we were looking for. There is room for a lot of improvement because there are a number of grey areas that we need to work on. We included [David] Temwanjira for George Majika because we wanted to try and get a third goal and kill the game as a contest,” said Antipas.

Flame Lilly coach Nesbert Saruchera said his side was a bit unlucky but Chicken Inn had played well.

“We lost to a good side although with a bit of luck we could have equalised. The other problem that we had was that the pitch was a bit too heavy for us, as you know we are coming from Division One and we are still to get used to the turf. We also lacked experience, especially in front of goal,” he said.
