January’s goals came in the seventh, 32nd, 58th and 70th minutes with teammate Limited Chikafa weighing in with a brace in the 17th and 35th minutes.

Going into the match How Mine had not scored at home and this was a huge relief for coach Luke Masomere who said it was not the change of venue that contributed to their performance as they could have scored more at Luveve.

“Those goals were meant for CAPS United but we had to hammer Whawha,” said Masomere who had indicated that they would have beat CAPS United by six goals after they did not turn up for their match.

Whawha coach Lloyd Mutasa said they did not play well and that they conceded early goals which unsettled his players. How Mine’s first goal came in the seventh minute after January met a Tapiwa Kumbuyani cross in the box and shot past goalkeeper Philip Nhete.

Ten minutes later Chikafa took advantage of a loose ball just outside the box and his shot hit the bottom upright to score. In the 32nd minute January made it two for himself after a solo run from the middle of the field and shot from the edge of the box, beating Nhete.

Before Whawha could settle in the 35th minute Chikafa scored the fourth for How Mine following a cross from Kudakwashe Musharu. January was to add two more in the 58th and 70th minutes with Musharu assisting in both goals.
