Pressure is mounting on Harare City gaffer Taurai Mangwiro after his side was held to yet another draw, their seventh of the season at the halfway stage, away to new boys Flame Lily at Lafarge on Sunday.
It was the Sunshine boys’ 0-0 draw in two consecutive weeks following last weekend’s stalemate against CAPS United.
“It was a very difficult match for us. The pitch is virtually unplayable and I thought we did fairly well in taking the game to our opponents but in the end a draw is a fair result.
“We needed the points as much as possible. Let’s hope we will have better returns in the second half of the season,” Mangwiro said in his post-match interview.
The potentially exciting match lost its luster due to the condition of the notoriously bumpy match venue in which both teams frustratingly failed to exhibit a free flowing brand football.
Flame Lily had the better of the chances with Motion Muponga’s glancing header acrobatically pushed round the post by Tafadzwa Dube in the first half.

Impressive Prosper Chinyama also had a blistering effort from outside the box tipped over by Dube in the second half where the prison wardens were even more dominant.
Evergreen David Kutyauripo’s low shot late in the game was easily dealt with by Prosper Chigumba. Flame Lily coach Backlyfield Chivenga was happy with a draw.
“It was a 50-50 match from what I observed and with a bit of luck, we could have won it but we couldn’t convert our chances. A draw is a fair result.”
