Motorists were stuck in long-winding queues to get into the venue while inside, scores of revellers complained about losing their valuables, including mobile phones to pickpocketers.

Security guards made brisk business as they charged between $3 to about $5 for vehicle security.

Thousands of people braved the rains to attend the show. But what was an otherwise good show was spoiled by Zambian singer Roberto’s poor performance that saw him being booed and pelted by revellers.

The Ama-rulah hitmaker’s playlist failed to connect with the audience and he had to repeat the popular track several times. Speaking to The Standard soon after his performance, Roberto said despite receiving a rude awakening, he was not detracted and would return to Zimbabwe soon.

Alexio opened the show with a well-polished act leaving the stage for Oliver Mtukudzi and the Blacks Spirits. The superstar left the audience convinced he is indeed the real grandfather of Zimbabwean music. His playlist consisted hits, among them Shamiso and Ziwere which proved to be popular with many.

Mafikizolo — dressed in white — opened their set with the track Ndihamba Nawe sending the auditorium into delirium before belting the song Emlanjeni, among other songs.

“We are happy to be back for a performance in Zimbabwe. This is the third time for us coming in a year,” Kgosinkwe said on stage.

Jah Prayzah, who played as the closing act, also proved he was a contender on the showbiz scene with his energetic performance.
