Kwekwe mayor councillor Matenda Madzoke has challenged Zimbabweans to honour their local prophets rather than eulogising those from outside.

Speaking at a donation of stationery worth thousands of dollars to orphans and less-privileged children by Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, through Fellowship House Ministries in Kwekwe last Sunday, Madzoke said Zimbabweans had a penchant for rushing for anything foreign, leaving their own who have solutions for their problems. He said God gave each country and area its own prophet and Zimbabweans should not be swayed by populist prophets who do not bring development to the country.
“We should honour our own prophets because God gave them to us for a reason, that is to develop our areas through their deeds and spiritual guidance,” said Madzoke.
“We have Prophet Makumbe here who has done so much for the people of Kwekwe. We should debunk the old adage that a prophet has no honour in his homeland, give support to our own prophets for the work they are doing.
“This year, the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund will work with Pastor Makumbe and Fellowship House Ministries so that we help more underpriveleged members of our society. I want to thank Prophet Makumbe because he has managed to chip in where council has failed because of our limited resources.”
Mbizo MP Vongai Mupereri said Mnangagwa made the donation through Fellowship House Ministries after being touched by Makumbe’s drive to help the poor.
“The vice-president has a heart for the less-privileged and every year he gives something to them,” said Mupereri.

“This year he sent me with stationery so that we give it to orphans and the needy. While he was still staying here he would have something for the less-privileged every festive season.
“After hearing the good work that Prophet Makumbe is doing in Kwekwe, he decided to donate through his church.”
More than 200 orphans and less privileged children received stationery from Mnangagwa last weekend. Two Form One pupils at Mbizo High School had their first term school fees paid for by Mupereri. The donation comes two weeks after the elderly and orphans in Mbizo received groceries for the festive season from the Fellowship House Ministries.
