You think you need deliverance, really?

Each one of us was delivered by Christ
Each one of us was delivered by Christ

Now almost everyone in church thinks they must be delivered from one demon or the other. It’s called ignorance on the rampage!

Some have actually become specialists and now carry the title of deliverance minister, but there is no such thing in the Bible. The woman in Christ, the Christian, doesn’t need any deliverance from demonic bondage. Galatians 1:4, “(Christ) Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father…”

From the moment Adam and Eve fell in the garden of Eden, God immediately put in place a master plan for the salvation –– the deliverance –– of man. It has always been the will of God the Father for you to be delivered. And after the cross, the deliverance was consummated –– for once and for all.

Colossians 1:13-14, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins…”

I want you to pay attention to the construction of this verse. It’s in past tense. Paul here is speaking in retrospect. He’s making reference to something not futuristic, but what has already happened. You’re not going to be delivered. You were delivered.

The cross was a full package. It was not a piecemeal effort that only saw you forgiven of your sins, no. Even your healing, your prosperity, your peace (remember Christ was chastised for your peace), were in that sacrifice on the cross.

If you’re one of those who move from church to church seeking deliverance, do you know what you’re saying? That what Christ did on the cross was not enough, that it was a waste, that it was useless!

Maybe you’re thinking to yourself (sometimes we’re too ashamed to ask someone about these sensitive matters), I’m struggling with this thing –– I find myself just lying about everything, when I open my mouth, trash just comes out, everything I touch collapses in failure, the doctor said I’ll live with this sickness for the rest of my life, I’ve tried to fight off this addiction but it’s too strong for me… What then must I do?

Walk out! Just walk out of that thing. The devil has nothing in you. He doesn’t have a hold over you! His hold over you was broken on the cross.

You may have opened certain doors in your life that you were not even supposed to touch –– and this has led you into some kind of bondage –– but let the Lord shut those doors. Revelation 3:7-8, “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; these things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; i know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

Your deliverance is a done deal and what you need is the understanding that you’re delivered. Sometimes, all you need to do is change the way you speak because “life and death are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21).

God has deposited inside your spirit all the power you will ever need to chart, or alter, the course of your life.

If there is anything in your life you don’t like, or you’re not happy with, change it!

Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us . . .”

You see that? It doesn’t say the power is in heaven! It’s in you. Stir that power and see the change you want. It’s the power you need to be delivered from anything that has caged you.
