They beat How Mine 1-0.

A classy pass by Franscisco Zikumbawire found Chakupe in the 52nd minute and he coolly picked the far post from inside the penalty box to give the hosts the lead.

Chidzambwa was thrilled by the three points as he looks to end the season in a better position than last year.

“It was a good start, we want to finish in a better position than last season,” said Chidzambwa after their victory. ZPC Kariba finished sixth last season.

How Mine coached by Kelvin Kaindu dominated in the first half, but fate twisted in the second stanza with brilliant displays from Talent Chamboko and returning attacking midfielder Raphael Manuvire, who joined Kauya Katuruturu from Harare City this season.

However, Kaindu, who is targeting the league title with the miners this season, had no complaints about the loss.

“We lost, but it was a very good match. We played well in the first half and gave it away in the second half, but that’s football for you. All the coaches want to win the league title and I am happy to say I am looking to win the title also this season,” said the How Mine coach.
