Yadah began the day on position 14 on the log standings, one rung above the relegation zone and the vital three points saw them leapfrog Bulawayo City and Harare City into 12th place on 37 points, with three matches before the season ends.

“Indeed, I am a relieved man because time is not on our side. So, I think this win is very good for us. If we keep this momentum, I think we are in the right direction and we can survive relegation,” Yadah coach Thomas Ruzive said.

It was the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries-owned side’s first set of three points in the last six matches.

After a bright start to the match, Yadah were rewarded after 13 minutes when Chiwara took an opportunistic strike from outside the box that beat Liberty Chirava in goals for Bulawayo City.

The hosts doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime from a spot kick.

City’s defender Sipho Ndlovu illegally shoved Sibanda to the ground in the box and Demera converted the resultant penalty. In the second half, Yadah took the foot off the pedal and were content to defend and catch their opponents on the counter, managing to see off the match.

Bulawayo City who have not been in real danger of relegation so far this season, are now mired in the murky waters of relegation and hosts title challengers Dynamos in their next match.

“I am very much worried now, but looking forward, I am seeing the light looking at the calibre of our players who have won big games in the past. Looking at the log, the only way we can survive is to win the remaining games,” Bulawayo City mentor Mandla Mpofu said.
