Chamisa gets massive boost

MDC T president Nelson Chamisa received a huge boost yesterday when several thousands of people filled White City Stadium in Bulawayo – by far the largest crowd for the opposition in years – for an MDC Alliance rally.

Chamisa said he was humbled by the endorsement as all eyes were on the MDC Alliance filling up White City Stadium following the recent MDC T split, and subsequent expulsion of deputy president Thokozani Khupe.

Khupe and her allies have claimed Bulawayo is their stronghold, and were confident the MDC Alliance rally was going to be a huge flop.

In his address, Chamisa touched base with the young and old and also dealt with issues affecting Matabeleland and thanked Bulawayo for the ‘endorsement.’

“I want to thank you Bulawayo for the support. Thank you for the support you continue giving us. I thank you, thank you, thank you,” he said.

“I feel sorry for those that have chosen to walk away. We want to win this election because we are winners, we are champions.

“If we remain united, we will definitely achieve a decisive victory.

“We will win this election. We have already won this election. We do not want people who will steal our votes.

“We want a free and fair election. We want an election that is held in a free and fair manner. “

MDC leader Welshman Ncube said the support received yesterday had boosted the confidence of the MDC Alliance that it would romp to victory.

“Victory is certain,” Ncube said.

“There is no way he (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) can steal your votes, our votes.

“There is no way they can steal our votes as long as all of us here register to vote, and vote on election day.”

Chamisa promised to tackle underdevelopment and marginalisation of Matabeleland, tribalism, deliver jobs, revive industry and implement devolution of power.

He also promised to tackle Gukurahundi, saying the country would not move forward as long as the emotive issue was not dealt with.

“We want to apologise to the people of Matabeleland (over Gukurahundi),” he said.

“We want to ensure there is compensation to the victims.

“You (Mnangagwa) are willing to compensate farmers, but failing to compensate the victims.

“We want devolution. Let us devolve power and authority.

“They failed to implement and respect the constitution of Zimbabwe on the issue of devolution. Everything is Hararerised.

“Harare cannot be the centre of everything. We will make sure that there is devolution.”

Chamisa has held several rallies across the country drumming up support for the coalition ahead of elections expected between July and August.

      Spot on Sandura

Of course there were those who came out of Byo. Did they not hear all MDC Provincial officials introducing themselves at the Rally? Did they expect them to have walked and not driven from their Provinces to Byo. Please please we need practical and mature arguments as comments and not emotions!

THE stadium was filled to the brim,& I know for sure that MDC has no capacity to hire buses to furry supporters to it’s rallies. They simply can’t afford it.The party does not have that kind of money.Only Zunu Pf can afford that because they abuse state funds and resources.

There is even unprecedented greatness and greater gains in alternating leadership / power to citizens / and the nationthan remaining monolithic in one party as though it was groven in the rock that only one party ZANU PF should rule not only for 37 years but even more.

In any case everyone is allowed to bus supporters to any function its not a crime under Zimbabwean Law. Even Khuphe cabal can also send buses to pick up people from Gweru Hwange or Zvimba. Let’s see if they will fill even one Combi?? Hehehe

Yes Bulawayo has been magnalised for a long time. What is MDC going to do for the development?

We want practical solutions. It’s insane to think if bullet trains yet main needs are required. Let’s not be filled with empty promises. If Byo has been magnalised when will a Vice president from the region be announced ” after kicking out Khuphe” who happens to be the obvious choice against all odds and now Chamisa as leader.

Time for games is over and we can’t think of turning a blind eye to what ZANU destroyed Zim

Please stop making noise about the issue of bullet trains. Is there anything special on bullet trains that you thing can not be done in Zimbabwe. It’s a reality, bullet train can be installed.

i was at the rally on Saturday.I am registered in ward 22 in Nkulumane and came from Harare the very day by city link, paid for my fare on my own.Yes there were our fellow friends from which ever corner to boost our moral. That was a good strategy. While i was at the rally i heard many people say , yes we will vote for MDC because it is a party which does not force people to rallies and looks clear on taking the needs of the people.
During the rally it was good to have these fellow members joining us to give that moral boost. And for Gutu to talk about MDC issues , poor lawyer , and liar you should mind your own business.
To be frank having been in Nkulumane constituency since 2000. MDC alliance will win outright , because even if people did not attended the rally people support MDC more than any other party in ZImbabwe.
In my family i was the only one who attended that rally , but the whole family(extended) of 36 in the ward supports MDC . Almost the whole neighborhood supports MDC .Most people told me they did not go because either they had no bus fare or were afraid of ZANU killers but they will vote MDC.

I truly salute the idea of de-Hararerising and the powers that be will be masters of their words if the can shift their HQ to Byo just as a starting point
