Addressing a bumper crowd at Manoti business centre in Gokwe-Kana, Potraz research and policy officer Phibion Chaibva yesterday said guardians had a duty to monitor information being accessed by minors on the internet.
“As parents, let us not ignore signs of bad behaviour that we would have noted in our kids,” he said.
“To you kids, if you see something that bothers you, talk about this with your parents or someone you trust.”
Abuse of social media and the internet has been on the rise among youths with the viewership of pornography material rife.
Potraz has been holding road shows in partnership with Radio Zimbabwe educating the public on their rights and expectations from telecommunication service providers. In the build-up to the mega show, Potraz held roadshows in Gokwe-Gumunyu, Gokwe-Nembudziya and at Gokwe centre where the public was being educated on their rights and what they should do when they feel aggrieved.
Chaibva said children were being lured into engaging in sexual activities using the internet and when parents see such things, they should report to the police.
