THE coming weekend promises a gospel music fiesta as two separate exciting events are lined up in Harare — one featuring upcoming stars at the premiere of fast-rising gospel artiste Best Mukundi Masinire’s latest song Yanaya and the other when veteran musician Pastor G debuts his bi-monthly worship Dubbed the Worship Lounge up close and personal.

Masinire will be joined by multi award-winning musician Willis Wataffi, formerly of Afrika Revenge, and other supporting acts, including Mbaki Nleya, J Soldier and Whitney Songbird next Sunday at Panzvimbo Restaurant in Newlands after the legendary gospel artiste Pastor G’s bi-monthly worship event on Friday at Utano Café in Avondale.

The journalist-cum-musician, Masinire, is riding on the success of his world-class single, Rooted in the Word Of God, a duet with songstress Whitney Songbird, which came sixth in the Coca-Cola ZBC Top 50 Videos of the Year and is playing on the internationally respected One Gospel television channel.

“I must say though that the greatest achievement I can ever have in my music walk is to touch people’s hearts and to transform lives,” Masinire said.

“This is bigger than any award or reward that man may ever give me. And I believe this year by the Spirit of God it’s going to be 10 times more.”

Whitney, who will also be giving a taste of her debut album, promised fans an awesome time of joy in the presence of the Lord.

Masinire said the premiere was an opportunity to sample new songs on his forthcoming album titled Mashoko.

“Yanaya talks about spring time. In the song I’m thanking God for the showers of blessings he has poured upon my life. Yanaya is a song that became an instant hit at church when I released it,” Masinire said.

“I heard so many testimonies from people as a result of the song. So, I realised it was about time to do a video so as to reach many people and to touch many hearts across the country.”

The DVD, which was directed by Pro Media and the audio by Wisdom Nyaparami, will also include videos such as Rooted in the Word, Better and Vakatadzei.

“I’m so excited about the premiere because I know that what I will be launching is more than just a song or video, but God’s words put in a melody and visuals. I’m more excited about the impact the song will have in people’s lives and in the body of Christ,” he said.

Masinire described the song Yanaya as a solo effort, but the video features the likes of Willis Watafi, Whitney Songbird, Beatrice Matewere, Minister Tait and Dr Chad.

Meanwhile, Pastor G has said while his focus is now on training worship teams and leaders from different churches, the Worship Lounge up close and personal is meant for his fans to enjoy a regular event hosted by him.

“It’s about creating ambience to minister through our music in an intimate and up close environment and to usher in the presence of God. It’s very suitable for the limited sitting at Utano Café and is for everyone who loves God’s music,” Pastor G said.

“I still do entertainment, but I am doing it with a ministry focus. I do worship leading training.”

Pastor G said he would host a conference for gospel artistes and worship leaders titled Disruption 2018 on September 28 and 29, which would feature speakers from Kenya Zambia and Zimbabwe.

At the conference he will launch a book journey and CD titled Indestructible, which dwells on his lessons on life experiences.
