Fortunate Nhete told Civil Court magistrate magistrate Lazini Ncube that her husband Brian Dick often chased her from their matrimonial home after abusing her.

Dick claimed Nhete was the abusive one in the relationship and once stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

He said his wife was still on trial at the magistrates’ courts for allegedly stabbing him Dick also claimed that his wife was the sole breadwinner and accused her of neglecting her family.

Meanwhile, a Harare man is in the habit of destroying his neighbour’s property while singing Jah Prayzah’s popular song Kutonga Kwaro, the Civil Court heard last week. Shane Gomo was slapped with a protection order by magistrate Lazini Ncube after Sibongile Mateyawonga from Epworth narrated how she was being routinely abused by him. Mateyawonga said Gomo would uproot plants in her garden while singing the song that was popularised during the coup against former president Robert Mugabe and ushered Emmerson Mnangagwa as the country’s new leader.

She said the song was meant to humiliate her.

Gomo insisted that his neighbour would trespass into her yard to fetch water and that she had dragged a number of her neighbours to court on similar charges.
