The activists were granted $100 bail each by the magistrates’ court after spending a night at Bulawayo Central Police station.

The MRP activists had since last Thursday been picketing outside a Pick n Pay supermarket in the city centre protesting what they alleged was nepotism at the branch.

They claimed people from outside Bulawayo were being bussed in every month to take up jobs at the supermarket. The retail shop was closed on Thursday afternoon following running battles with the police.

The MRP activists were represented by Prince Bhutsha Dube from Abammeli Human Rights Network.
