The contest, open to models from around the country, whose date is yet to be announced, will see the ultimate winner driving away in a new ride — a Mercedes Benz Kompressor — along with an annual deal to be an ambassador for the big spenders’ night spot.

“We are looking at around 120 to 150 models coming although we are open to a bigger number as we search for the best individual to be Miss Sankayi,” said the pageant representative Alistair Rosen.

According to Rosen, weekly contests would be conducted at Sankayi before the final 80 contestants battle it out at a date to be announced.

“We are basically looking for a face that will best represent us especially in advertising the place and basically be our ambassador for a year,” he said.

“The date for the finals will depend on the number of models, but we are planning to maybe have the finals in August and it will be a beauty pageant to remember.”

Those familiar with Ginimbi’s opulent spending antics would definitely expect an A-list pageant accompanied by all sorts of lavishness and the who’s who of night life in Harare.

Club Sankayi opened its doors in May at a colourful event, with notable guests, including American Cici Amor and Congolese rhumba star Fally Ipupa, who later performed at Harare International Conference Centre, courtesy of Ginimbi. By Staff Reporter
