Justice Owen Tagu on July 4 ruled that the council and its three munipal police must compensate Phanuel Kapfudzaruwa, who was severely assaulted while doing his job.

The municipal police officers are Misheck Mutindindi, Bernard Mambo and Samson Samukute.

“The damages should be awarded to send a clear message to unthinking employees to think before they act unlawfully,” the judge said.

According to court papers, Kapfudzaruwa was assaulted by the four in March 2016 after he went to council offices to attach the trucks.

Mutindindi, Mambo and Samukute assaulted Kapfudzaruwa, leaving him severely injured.
