The Zvishavane-based vocalist’s star has been rising significantly in recent years as songs from his two albums so far have been on high rotation across radio stations and online.

In an interview with The Standard Style, Khanye said he was ecstatic over the performance of the songs — off his second album titled Kutaura Nemi — on YaFm’s Midlands Gospel Top 10 as well as Hevoi FM and he said this had encouraged him to release more songs.

“I actually thank God for the popularity and impact Ndiri Hwai is having, it really pushes me to release more gospel music and inspire an even larger crowd, preaching through music,” he said, adding that his aim was to fulfil the “great commission”.

“Generally, my music focuses on salvation and giving hope to the weak because the essence of being a Christian is to be in the Kingdom of God and have eternal life so as a musician the great commission is to preach the gospel to all nations.”

The new single, Wozani, which features Roe Makawa and Chikondi and has Afro-pop traits, was produced by Blessing Masanga.

“Since my debut album in 2015, I have matured musically through mingling with other artistes which has been a great experience.

There is a major difference between the first album and now,” said the multi-lingual artiste. With new singles now in the picture, Khanye, is not under pressure to release an album this year. He intends to embark on a tour locally and regionally sometime next year.

“The music industry has a lot of challenges, but I look forward to be dishing out more songs despite the challenges and I am also finalising plans to have shows across the Southern African countries. So there is a whole lot of work ahead,” he said.

Khanye has received several award nominations for different categories in 2016 as well last year’s Midlands Awards.
