Trendsetting musician Ammara Brown is set to prove that indeed she is the local queen of firsts when she tours a bulk part of the Sadc region, reasserting her growing clout in and out of Zimbabwe’s borders.
Despite recently joining the tide of artistes moving to South Africa, the Akilliz hit singer has not abandoned her Ammartians (the name for her fans) and will serve them first on September 28 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
The gig, dubbed Ammartia Ignite, marks the beginning of the expedition and will see her share the stage with Nigerian star Mr Eazi, with whom she has collaborated on her latest smash hit Svoto, as part of the deluxe edition of her debut album titled Ammartia to be unveiled on the same night.
“This is the first Sadc tour that any artiste has ever embarked on, on their own, so it is going to be massive because as the fan base has been growing this is my thank you and appreciation to all the fans that are growing in different countries of Sadc,” Ammara said recently.
Contrary to speculation that she had joined the artistes’ emigration crusade in search of greener pastures on the other side of the Limpopo, the award-winning musician said everything she was currently doing with her new management “has been towards this album and the Sadc tour of Ammartia.”
However, according to her, this would not change her endearing way of doing music.
“I have always been true to myself, true to the sound and true to what I communicate. If the music does not move me, then I do not go to record,” she said, adding that many artistes were showing interest in working with her.

“It’s really beautiful for me because I am having artistes from the continent and internationally wanting to work with me or supporting me to leave a trail in this region so it’s really great and I am so happy.”
In a snippet video, Mr Eazi confirmed his cameo appearance at Ammartia Ignite in Harare.
“Yo my people you are listening to Mr Eazi. On September 28 at HICC, Harare, it’s Ammartia Ignite with myself and Ammara. You got to go and get your tickets,” he said.
Supporting acts will include rappers EXQ and Takura, who will be joined by rising songstress Tamy Moyo and others.
