Actress-cum-musician Adiona Chidzonga considers her slots on Alpha Media Holdings’ (AMH) Heart and Soul digital radio a fresh breath of “good vibes” that will brighten even the worst of days for anyone listening in, regardless of their age.

Adiona’s Off the Menu show, which touches on an array of social topics, goes on air every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday for three hours, starting at midday.

“It’s a melting pot of goodies and I cater for anyone who loves life, fashion, health and fitness. It is basically about initiating good conversation and the list is long, but basically, it’s about good vibes as well as good music,” she told Standard Style in an interview.

The broadcaster, a mother of two — married to former Big Brother Africa 2010 reality show housemate Munyaradzi Chidzonga — revels at her shot at presenting a show on the station she considers the urban pulse of the nation.

“The name (Heart and Soul) speaks volumes, it feeds your soul and most of the shows come from the heart, so it’s not just about radio, but about how it makes you feel,” she said, adding that the inventive tele-radio station deserves a space on the terrestrial airwaves.

“I cannot wait for us to go terrestrial as well to reach other people without internet access because I feel that everyone should experience Heart and Soul.”

Sticking to her birth name as her on-air alias, she already has unforgettable moments in her rising career, including an encounter with songstress Ammara Brown, who once advised her to try broadcasting.

“I loved being in the studio with Ammara because it was pure joy and love. She had told me years ago that I should try radio, so I did years later and I loved it,” she said.

Meanwhile, in a hearty “smuggling-in” of their love affair with the studio, she co-hosts Family Matters with her husband during the same lunchhour drive time slot on Saturdays.
