The Postal and Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) has given a major boost to a Mwenezi family with four physically challenged children after donating foodstuffs, pots, blankets and mattresses worth RTGS $7 000.

The donation was made last Thursday at the family’s homestead in Bhondora village, under Chief Chitanga.

The plight of the family came into the spotlight after a philanthropist who runs his G and N mission school and hospital at Rutenga, Gibson Taruvinga, invited the media to air their sad story.

The family has four differently abled children out of 10, who are under the care of their widowed mother, Dzosai Chihora (55).

Potraz director-general Gift Machengete, in a speech read on his behalf by the organisation’s head of marketing and international relations Sibongisiwe Muteyiwa, said they were touched by the plight of the family and also decided to chip in as part of their corporate social responsibility programme.

Chihora thanked Potraz for chipping in and said the donation would go a long way in alleviating her food woes.
