A Harare woman was convicted for stealing groceries from a supermarket where she worked as a manager in Mvurwi.

Natalie Moore (48) pleaded guilty to stealing groceries worth $1 505 before Guruve magistrate Shingirai Mutiro, who slapped her with a 30-month jail term last week.

Six months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour while 12 months would set aside if she pays for the stolen goods.

The remaining 12 months were commuted to 420 hours of community service.

Prosecutor Spiwe Makaraichi said Moore connived with two other workers who are still at large between February 25 to March 2 to steal from Golly’s Supermarket.

The supermarket used close-circuit television (cctv) to identify the culprits.
