Afro-jazz musician Tawanda Mukoko, aka Samukoko, on Tuesday released his much anticipated second album titled Keeper Nemukati at Eastpoint, formerly Jazz 105, in Harare.

The eight-track album was written and composed by Samukoko and backed by his band Caritate.

The songs on the new album include Uchi Nemukaka, Basa Rangu, Donhodzo, Ndichauya Ndega and Ndakaka.

“The title means a goalkeeper who also plays infield football,” Samukoko told Standard Style.

“It’s meant to symbolise the power of pushing beyond titles and restrictions to make sure that one always delivers.”

The musician thanked his fans who turned up for the album launch.

“I am amazed at the congestion in the streets out there. I can’t believe that I’m responsible for all this and thank you all so much for your support. I just can’t say it enough,” he said.

Samukoko roped in award, winning producer Oskid, who worked with Lavas, Rox, Marselo and Bishy.

The album was auctioned and the highest bidder bought the CD for US$400.

Supporting acts included Pauline Gundusa, who performed alongside Garry Tight, and gave a vintage act. Other artistes who supported Samukoko on the night included Jesa Band, Ordinance Band and Syda Boss, who were also accompanied by performers from the Zimbabwe School of Music.
