A BULAWAYO man has been set free by thecourts after he was found with two pangolins and suspected stolen Zesa copper cables in his house.

Welcome Moyo, of Cowdray Park, had pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession or keeping two live pangolins without a licence and illegal possession of copper wire when his trial started before Bulawayo regional magistrate Sithembinkosi Mkandla.

He was discharged at the close of the state case after the magistrate ruled that the state had failed to prove its case beyond any reasonable doubt which warranted the court to convict him.

Moyo had applied for discharge at the close of the state case, saying the animals and cables belonged to a housemate. — RICHARD MUPONDE
