Police in Bulawayo are investigating the theft of a car at a Matsheumhlope house after the suspected thieves broke into the premises while the owner was sleeping.

The thieves allegedly cut off the anti-hijack device before disconnecting the alarm and took away a tonic blue Mazda registration number ABP 2295.

Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the vehicle belonging to Ina Denis (62) was stolen last Wednesday night.

“On Wednesday evening Denis locked and parked his car in his garage before locking the gate and went to sleep,” she said. “The following morning he discovered that his car had been stolen and reported the case to the police.”

Meanwhile, police last week recovered a stolen Honda Fit vehicle, which was found dumped along Harare Road near Bulawayo Golf Course. The car had some minor dents on it. Msebele said two suspects were arrested in connection with the car theft, adding that they would appear in court soon.

She said people should install car-tracking systems to help in the recovery of the vehicles. — NIZBERT MOYO
